Animal Cooking Class

This week the students will take part in an animal cooking class. The class will support students' understanding of animal shapes and the important features of an animal. They will take part in a one-hour long class which will explore the shapes of snails and their shells. Students will be cooking snail cinnamon buns, where they will link their learning from the term to life skills of measuring and following the procedural text of a recipe. At the conclusion of the session students will not only have learnt more about ‘Great and Small’, they will have a delicious snail cinnamon bun to enjoy.

A reminder to please inform your child’s class teacher if your child has any dietary requirements.

Student Leader Profiles

Cici

I first came to this school in 2018 when I was in Grade 4. Even though this school was very different to the school I used to go to (Glen Waverley South Primary School), I felt very warm and welcomed as I stepped into the school. At the start, it felt weird having a mixture of younger and older grades all learning the same thing. Eventually, as the community gets bigger and bigger, we had two grades together and, until now, we (grade 6's) are learning as a whole family. I am honoured to be given the role of School Vice-Captain. As a response, I will always do everything to the best of my ability and make my attempt to try new things. The subjects I enjoy at school are Music, PE and many more. I also loved the excursions we had, like the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the time when we went to the Sea life aquarium. I really look forward to going to a new school next year. I hope it will be another fun and brand new experience. I will miss this school and hope I will be able to return years later.

I started at SMPS in August of 2019. I was in grade 5 then. At first I was a bit nervous but soon overcame that nervousness. My teacher was Mr Callum and he made me feel welcome at this school as well as my classmates so I’m grateful for that. I used to go to Doncaster PS and its very different from SMPS. I’m very honoured to get the role of Montague house vice-captain this year. I’m trying to do the best I can as a leader. Next year I’m off to high school. I’m going to Albert Park College. I will miss SMPS and some of my friends, my teachers as well but I hope one day I will be able to visit SMPS again.

I started at SMPS in Term 3, 2020.  It was the middle of home learning when I started, and I got helped so much by my teachers and I settled in very quickly. I was so happy when I got told I could go back to school in person. On the first day back at school I met Mr. Noel at the gate, and he was super friendly. When I was walking up the stairs it was so nice to see all the happy students ready to see their class again after so long. After being at SMPS for a couple of weeks I felt like part of the community, it felt like I had always been here. I used to go to a small school. It’s really different in many ways. I'm super glad I have come to SMPS because if I didn’t, I would have not met so many amazing teachers, lifelong friends and one amazing principal.

I am in Year 6 and have been at the school for 3 years which was when the school started. I am in the green coloured house (Ferrars). I am also the captain of that house and I am very grateful for that.  The subjects I like the music and math. These are the subjects where I believe I thrive the most and it also brings joy to my day. For me 2020 on a whole was great learning experience and it taught me so much. "You don't know what you have until it’s gone" is a saying that was really true to me in this season. It showed me to be grateful for what I have and never take it for granted. My favorite moment at SMPS is all the time Mr. Noel has dressed up in weird costume. Its makes me laugh so hard I that I needed to pee (but I wait till after assembly though!). I hope he does it again before I leave the school.  When I am older I would like to be a person that achieves great things. I don’t mind what I be as long as I do my best, but if I had to choose I would be a chef. I would make delicious food and I could cook for my family. YAY! Anyway now you more about me, fi you see me around the school, don’t be shy to say hi (man, I’m a poet and I don’t even know it).
