'Belonging, Being and Becoming'

Alfred Street ELC

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom…Blue group are going to the moon! What fun the children have had remodelling their magic carpet into a rocket ship. As an extension to this they have made a diorama which includes all the planets of the solar system, including the Sun, moon and stars. The children are learning the names of the planets and are enjoying taking trips into ‘outer space’.

In Green group we have extended the children’s interest in cars and trains to introduce road safety. It is amazing what conversations and intentional teaching can be generated by simply pushing a toy car along a pretend road or completing a jigsaw puzzle.

Over the last few weeks we have been very mindful of the need for good personal hygiene practises. The children are now washing their hands on entering kindergarten and at various times during the day – after toileting, before eating, after coughing/sneezing. We have reinforced this by reading a simple book – Scrub, scrub, clean. A book about healthy habits. We have also taught the children a simple song that explains how to thoroughly wash your hands.

We wish all our families a happy and safe holiday and look forward to Term 2.
