Holy Thursday
Holy Thursday is on the 9th April and is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when he established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to his arrest and crucifixion. The Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem. He broke bread and drank wine, as we do in Mass and washed the Disciples feet.
Good Friday
Good Friday is on the 10th April. It is the day Jesus Christ was crucified; nailed to a Cross and died. He was flogged, tormented, ridiculed and crowned with thorns. He carried his cross to Calvary, was then nailed to the cross and crucified. The events that led to Jesus’ Crucifixion are known in the Stations of the Cross. Following the incredible events of the day, the body of Christ was removed from the cross and laid in a donated tomb, buried according to custom.
Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday is on the 12th April, and is the celebration of Christ's resurrection from the dead. It marks the end of Holy Week, the end of Lent, the last day of the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday), and is the beginning of the Easter season of the liturgical year. As we know from the Gospels, Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion, which would be Sunday. Since Easter represents the fulfillment of God's promises to mankind, it is the most important holiday on the Christian calendar.
Caritas - Project Compassion
With everything going on in the world, we ask that you keep your Project Compassion boxes at home for the moment, and continue to make contributions if you can. We will make contact with Caritas Australia and let you know about a collection date early next term.
Thank you for your continued support.
We are very blessed in our St Edward's community with many generous and thoughtful people.
Easter Blessings
We would like to take this opportunity to send Easter Blessings to our school community.
We pray that you have a safe and healthy school break, and enjoy spending time with your family.
God bless,
Mrs Sally Clarke and Mrs Amy Willis
