Principal's Message

From the Principal

Well, here we are at the end of another fun and productive term of learning at Christ Our Holy Redeemer. Along with all the rich learning we have also managed to squeeze in; Grandparents and Special Friend’s Day, District Athletics, Class Excursions, Book Week, Confirmation, special lunch days, an amazing School Concert, a swimming program and tomorrow we finish off with Footy Colours Day. I congratulate all the children on their efforts throughout the term. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our hard-working staff. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated team of professionals. I wish all in our community a well-deserved and restful break over the coming holiday period and I look forward to welcoming you all back  for the start of the new term.

Swimming

Our nine day intensive swimming program concluded today with a water safety lesson. It has been wonderful to watch the children make progress in their skill development in the water.

Ashburton Pool staff have been very impressed with the behaviour of our children, even commenting that COHR is 'One of the best schools they've ever had'. We are very proud of the children and their efforts over the past few weeks.

Michella, who has coordinated this year's program, has added swimming news to this week's newsletter

Walk to School Month

7th October - 1st November

Every October, Walk to School encourages Victorian primary school kids to walk, ride or scoot to and from school. It’s a great way to help students learn healthy habits and achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity, every day. Active travel options to and from school are also a great opportunity to connect and chat with your kids, plus meet up with other local families along the way. If you can’t walk all the way, your child can still get involved – simply drive part way and walk, ride or scoot the rest!

Our school has registered for this year’s Walk to School Month. It is hoped that we will be able to record how many children are walking, riding or scooting to school using the TAG ON system.

Staff News

Franca Paduano, our intervention teacher, is currently on long-service leave and is due to return on 21st October.

Michella Pradel will also be taking long service leave from October the 21st, for the remainder of the school  year. We certainly wish Michella and Franca a well-deserved time of leave.

Upon her return, Franca will be stepping in as Acting Deputy Principal  in Michella's absence.

Term 3 Social Justice Fundraiser

An announcement will be made at tomorrow morning's assembly regarding the results of this term's social justice fundraiser.  We will announce which class raised the most money as well as the AFL Team that attracted the largest proportion of donations.

This terms charity is: John Moriarty Football Fund. This charity brings Indigenous youth together through sport, promoting good health and well being.

End of Term Prayer Service

A whole school prayer service will take place tomorrow at 2pm in the hall. As with all our liturgies, assemblies and masses, family and friends are most welcome to join us.

Hats

A reminder that children are required to wear their school hat when outside in Term 4.  The holidays is a good time for the children to find their school hat in preparation for the new term.

We usually give the children a days grace if they forget their hat on the first day, after this we reinforce our policy with 'No Hat, No Play'.
