A note from Mr Jackson

Mobile Technology

Mobile phones are certainly a helpful tool to stay in touch, as students move to and from school.  To ensure that this technology is not used inappropriately all mobile phones are required to be handed in to the front office upon the student’s arrival at school. The devices can be collected at the conclusion of the school day. Please ensure that any child who is sent to school with a phone is encouraged to log it into the office.

Big Day In

Students will be celebrating the end of the year on Tuesday with the Big Day In. This is a chance to participate in 'escape room' like puzzles as well as join together and enjoy a movie. Please ensure that notes and payments have been completed by the end of the week.

Student Leadership

On Tuesday students from Year 5 gathered and shared in the selection process for student leadership positions for 2020. It was a privilege to listen to students demonstrate their understandings of leadership. The outcome for these leadership positions will be announced at the final assembly.

Thanks to our Volunteers

The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimate that volunteers contributed an estimate 43 billion dollars to our economy! I believe that the value that volunteers at Rosanna Primary contribute would be close to 42 billion. They can be found tucked into corners reading with students or attending meetings about the maths garden, as well as completing a range of other tasks. The Fair was a wonderful celebration of what can be achieved when we lend a supportive hand. We are greatly appreciative of their contribution that enrich the teaching and learning of all. Thanks to the staff who provided the morning tea.

Class Teachers and Locations

We have finalised classes for 2020 and teachers are looking forward to getting to know their new classes on Monday. This final transition will be an opportunity for students and teachers to become acquainted with each other and the new spaces they will be based in. In our class structure we have a number of classes that straddle teaching and learning areas (eg, P/1Y, 2/3A and 4/5M). Students in these classes will continue to learn at their ‘next step for learning’, no different from other students in the school. Our experienced staff will continue to ensure that students have access to social connections and learning opportunities that stretch across classes and area settings.

2020 Classes

Today the staffing of our 2020 structure was announced during the Volunteers Morning Tea. A range of other changes to rooms were also explained. The three Prep classes and Prep/1 class will be moved to the lower building where the current 234 area is located. The two 3/4 classes and 2/3 class will be located in the main administration building. Both the 3/4 classes will have access to double classrooms. The Italian room will be moved to the western wing of the lower building. These changes make the most of learning spaces throughout the school and will ensure all classes have available to them a large learning space.

We welcome Ms Eleanor Kaiser who will join the teaching team in 2020. She will be welcomed into the 1/2 area.

Seesaw – End of Year Download

Seesaw has proved a valuable tool for strengthening the connection between home and school. A special thanks to those who have participated in the recent survey to evaluate the introduction of the software this year. As we move towards 2020 we will be rolling over some of our digital platforms. If parents wish to save any of their child’s documentation on Seesaw please ensure this is done prior to the end of the year. 2019 student work samples will not be available on Seesaw in 2020.

Students Reports

Our student reports will be made available on Compass in Week 11. Hard copies are not provided. For those transitioning out of our school please ensure that you download and save any student reports you wish to keep.
