Global Goals Youth Forum

Collaboratively working towards and better understanding

The Global Youth Forum was a wonderful opportunity where we worked in groups to present about some different countries and particularly looked at a specific goal from the Global Sustainable Development Goals; peace and justice. During the forum, we met many people and had to work and present our research and findings with them. It was fun but also helpful as we learnt how to communicate and collaborate well even if we didn’t know the person. The forum helped me realise and understand how lucky we are to be living in Australia, with a home, food, clean water, an education and not having to work until we feel the need to. All these are privileges we have but never think about whereas in some other countries, not many children have these privileges. The forum also helped me start thinking about what I can do about some of these problems, as it is the small, seemingly insignificant things that really start something big and can change the world for the better. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.

The global forum was a great learning experience, I was challenged to use my prior knowledge which I actually quite enjoyed, I also enjoyed making posters with other groups, we got some insight into other peoples thinking and generated ideas easily. I learnt a lot about the state of some countries, I have come out of this program feeling as if I need to do something about all these issues I had previously not known about. I am very grateful for this experience,

We had pre-forum meetings to educate ourselves and to prepare us on educating and informing other students. I love to work with new people and this was an amazing experience. Though I enjoyed this forum quite a bit, I faced a few challenges as well. An example was seeing how bad the conditions of these countries were. I am from India and I was assigned India, though I didn’t have high expectations, I was shocked at some of the statistics. A few things that I enjoyed are learning about the different countries and working with such new and different people. Additionally, I learnt how lucky we are to be living in such a safe and registered country. Most of us have a roof on our head. I also learnt how many people take their living style for granted.
