Beach Clean Up!

BSC Year 9 Students clean up Hampton Beach!

On Thursday the 24th of October, a wonderful group of Year 9 students went with Ms Trinh and Ms Hart to Hampton beach to do their part in helping the environment by putting some gloves on and picking up all the rubbish they could find.

According to National Geographic, 73% of all beach litter is plastic. This includes bottles, food wrappers, grocery bags, polystyrene containers and more, which could take anywhere between 10 years to 1,000 years to decompose. This litter makes its way into our oceans, endangering our beautiful sea life, such as turtles, fish, birds and other sea animals.

There are many ways to help save the earth besides cleaning up; including reducing the use of plastic, recycling and reusing containers and bottles. The students did a fantastic job at cleaning up the beach in hot weather and should be commended for their role in keeping our local community cleaner and greener.
