Student Awards

Congratulations to Olive and Katya who were last week presented with prestigious awards by Bendigo Bank and our local MP Michael Sukkar. See below for their citations. Congratulations girls we are so proud of you.

Quiet Achiever Award

A quiet achiever is someone who embodies all of our school values in a quiet, industrious way without the need to be celebrated. They understand the power of doing the right thing because it is the best thing to do, rather than because they expect praise or recognition. They’re self-motivated to achieve across multiple areas, sometimes because they’re passionate about it, but often because they understand its importance in the wider scheme of the school or the community. Our Quiet Achiever is governed by her own compass that sets her in the direction of success and understands the role that hard work, determination and gratitude play in this.

Kalinda’s Quiet Achiever this year is someone that supports the programs across our school. She is an active participant in the Arts, volunteering her time and taking the initiative to support the endeavours of our teachers. This person has also been involved across multiple productions, from Highland to Drama Club and leading by example each time she takes the stage. She will be remembered at Kalinda as a student who goes about all her work and the way in which she helps people in our community with minimal fuss and noise. She simply focuses on the task at hand and gives 100% until its completion.

Our Quiet Achiever for 2019 is Katya K.

Deakin Shield

Our Deakin Shield recipient this year embodies all of the values, skills and talents of a natural leader, a passionate student and all-round good human. Being incredibly humble in their nature, they don't shout these talents from the roof-top, but rather quietly goes about encouraging others and leading by example. Their achievements this year have been wide spread.

As one of school leaders this year, they have been exemplary in speaking on behalf of the school with maturity, respect and poise, from the youngest students all the way to the grandparents that make up our community. They have proudly represented us at the ANZAC Dawn Service, our school's ANZAC service, each and every assembly.

A friend to all, they do not discriminate in their kindness. They apply themselves to achieving in each endeavour they undertake and with their wide range of roles and responsibilities, they have some of the most outstanding time management skills.

This person showed great initiative and determination in improving their school by introducing a school veggie patch. This passion project has involved a lot of co-ordination between themselves, school leadership, the fundraising committee and donators from the community. It has brought the students in our community together with common purpose during recesses and lunchtimes.

To have achieved all of this at 12 years of age, in 7 years of primary school and in one year of leadership, we can feel safe knowing that the world will always be improved by her.

Our Deakin Shield recipient for 2019 is Olive C.
