School Counsellor

A final message from Emily for 2019

Dear Parents and carers,

I hope you can find space to breathe. And slow down, during this rather busy and sometimes stressful period.

As January arrives (after you have done that REALLY BUSY bit at Christmas), I hope that you all, with your children, can find some time for peace and play.

Here are some activities I am going to attempt with my little Biebers at home and I wanted to share them with you...

  • Building cubby houses, indoors!
  • A trip to Altona Beach (great parking, and shaded playground over the road!)
  • A picnic at Maroondah Dam
  • Family art competition (try a 3 colour challenge - you have to lucky dip three textas)
  • Geocaching it's like DIY orienteering!
  • Make this ridiculous jelly slice
  • Local library: for stacks of real books, audio books, and free activities.
  • Food Ration Challenge (this is unlikely to impress your kids)
  • Press flowers and leaves inside old books
  • Watch "Ferris Bueller's Day Out" again with home-made popcorn
  • A giant undies and socks stocktake. Empty out all the drawers. A hilarious game is likely to ensue.

More seriously,

Thank you for having me on the team (yes, that includes you at home) at Kalinda Primary School. I have witnessed some lovely "wins" for children this semester and I look forward to continuing on as part of the team in 2020.

In peace,

Em.
