Health and First Aid

IMPORTANT END OF YEAR MEDICAL INFORMATION

Welcome to last instalment of Heath and First Aid at Kalinda Primary School for 2019! This week’s focus is on our new online service.

EXPIRATION REMINDER

Our school will now be using Expiration Reminder (www.expirationreminder.net ) for the following purposes: to track, remind, organise and update expiration dates of the following:

  • Student medications stored in the Sickbay
  • Student Action Plans (Allergy, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Epilepsy, Diabetes, etc.)
  • Medication Authority Forms
  • Student Health Support Plans and all supplementary documents
  • General First Aid Stock
  • Staff Training

It enables administrative staff to automatically remind parents/guardians/carers of upcoming expiry dates related only to their children. This is via email and SMS, and allows for clear communication and engagement with parents, guardians and carers about their student’s medical documentation maintenance.

  • If you would like further information, please see the attached document. This document is also accessible under 'Notices and Forms' on the school website.
  • If you have any questions about this service, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Reminder: Medication Sign in/Sign out Register

As the year draws to a close, some of you may choose to take your child’s medication home over the holidays. If you’d like to collect medication from the school, it will need to be signed out using the medication sign in/sign out register. This is located in the Sickbay and has clear instructions and examples on how to complete the form. If you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me during the hours of 11-2:30.

2020 Action Plans

If your child has anaphylaxis, asthma or an allergy, they must have a current ASCIA/Asthma Foundation Action Plan at school.

This authorises us to give appropriate medication and treatment for your child.

Now is the time to make your appointments at your healthcare professionals for 2020 Action Plans. This ensures your child’s plan is valid for the whole school year. If there are any changes to your child’s action plan, a new Student Health Support Plan will need to be completed as well. Copies of Action Plans and Student Health Support Plans can be collected from the office or found on the school website.

Happy Holidays,
