Principal's Address
Farewells and thank you
I would like to take this opportunity to thank some key members of staff for their service to the school this year and term.
Mr Brett Sullivan, our Primary RFF teacher, and his family have decided to move back to Sydney to be closer to family. During his time at the school, Brett brought a wealth of experience and enjoyment in interacting with the students. I would like to thank him for coming to Boorowa Central School and giving the country life a go.
Mr Ron Trimble has been relieving as the Secondary Special Education Teacher for the past two and a half terms. He is a calming influence on the students and always strived to build a strong rapport with the students of our Learning Hub. He has chosen to retire from teaching and is planning on more travel and time with his lovely wife Margaret. I would like to thank Mr Trimble for stepping in and assisting the school in a moment of need.
Ms Pam Harris has worked as the Literacy Intervention Teacher in secondary this term at our school. She has fulfilled this role with professionalism and dedication, and her presence back in the school has been like a breath of fresh air. Thank you to Ms Harris for using her expertise to further enhance our student's literacy skills.
Congratulations
Miss Paris Corcoran, our Year 1/2 teacher, has completed her final professional experience as part of her university degree. Whilst already employed as a teacher at Boorowa Central School, Miss Corcoran undertook her six-week practicum in an unpaid capacity to ensure she met all of the demands of her teaching degree. She did an excellent job, and I am very pleased that she is a member of our staff already. The future is bright for this young teacher.
Miss Stacie Wales is also to be congratulated. Stacie, an ex-student of Boorowa Central School, completed her first professional experience as a primary teacher under the expert guidance of Mr Stuart. She gained valuable experience and confidence, and she disclosed to me that this placement solidified her desire to teach. This is great news for the Public Education system. I hope to see her here in the near future as a fully qualified teacher.
Creating Futures – Education Changes Lives
Education Week is being held at Boorowa Central School in Week 2 of Term 3. To celebrate, the school will host a variety of competitions and activities throughout the week with a different theme each day. We have chosen to incorporate NAIDOC Day, Book Day, and the Book Fair into this week.
A poster was sent home in every student report this week outlining the opportunities for parents to attend the school and share the activities with staff and students. We hope many of you can join us on one or several days throughout the week.
Reports
Kindergarten to Year 11 Semester 1 reports were sent home to all families this week. I ensure I read every student's report so that I have a good understanding of how each student is progressing in their learning. In particular, I look to recognise those students who are applying elevated levels of effort in all areas of their learning and have excellent attendance. These two aspects form the foundation of a solid education and are crucial to success both at school and in life beyond this.
If your child is a student who I can see is consistently striving with their learning, I have enclosed a Principal's letter in their report to congratulate them on a successful term. Please celebrate their success with your child.
Parent Teacher Evenings
Your child's progress in Semester One can be discussed with your child's teacher(s) at the K-6 and the 7-11 Parent Teacher interviews. These interviews are being held in Week 3 of next term, 1-5 August 2022. Booking information will be sent home with students in Week 1. Please make a time to come in and gain valuable feedback about your child and to discuss strategies for further success.
Term 3
School returns for all students on Tuesday 19 July 2022. Secondary students will receive a new timetable in the first week, so please remind your child(ren) to bring all their books so that they are prepared.
Thank you to all of you for your ongoing support of the school, its staff and most importantly, your children. It takes a strong partnership between school and home to educate a child, and here at Boorowa I feel incredibly grateful that we have the support of such a great community.
To all of our Boorowa Central families, I hope you have a safe and relaxing school holiday.
Mr Graham Jones I Principal
