SECONDARY SCHOOLS STUDENT LEADERSHIP DAY

On the 22nd of March School Captains, Paul Jimenez and Sharra Gibson were invited to attend the Secondary Schools Student Leadership Day in Sydney. Paul and Sharra started their day with a tour of Sydney’s Government House, learning about the history of New South Wales’ Governors and their role. They then had the opportunity to meet and speak with the current Governor of NSW, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley. Paul and Sharra were then able to walk around the scenic gardens of Government House which is situated right next to Sydney’s Botanical Gardens and Sydney Harbour.

After some morning tea in the gardens, Paul and Sharra went to NSW Parliament, located in the CBD of Sydney to visit Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Chambers. A Q and A session was held with multiple Members of Parliament where students had the opportunity to find out more about the NSW Government system. After this session, Paul and Sharra along with other local high schools such as Cessnock High, were lucky enough to meet with the Local MP for Cessnock, Clayton Barr.

CARER’S PANCAKE BREAKFAST

On the 20th of May, SRC, JAECG and Interact members came together to put on a delicious pancake breakfast for parents and caregivers of students at Kurri Kurri High School. Despite the weather being quite cold and pouring down rain, students managed to make delicious hot pancakes with toppings such as fresh berries, whipped cream, and Nutella. It was a way to give back to our amazing parents and caregivers and all they do for their students at KKHS. Thank you to all who attended, and we cannot wait for the next one!
