Middle School

From the Acting Head of Middle School

Last week I spoke about the importance of kindness. It was great to see this sentiment during our VACS periods as students worked together, accepting each other’s differences and supporting one another to reach a common goal. Hearing positive support on the football field, reassurance while making macramé and excitement and comradery at finding photos of native animals during the Science extension group, all cemented for me the importance of being kind.

This week our Year Nine leaders have taken this another step further by offering kindness to the community. They introduced their Foodbank Donation Drive to the Middle School during Monday’s briefing. The Foodbank Albany branch is running low on stock as an increased demand for their assistance rises. As such our leaders are calling on the GSG community to offer kindness, and support, by donating dried and canned goods to the drive. Baskets have been placed in each Middle School homeroom and we ask that students donate as much as they can to this great cause. Items should be non-perishable and within date, and donations should be received by Wednesday 29 June. On behalf of the leaders, and Foodbank Albany , I thank everyone in advance for their donations.

This week I would also like to congratulate Dakota Dimer, Year Seven, on her selection in the Western Australian 2022 Basketball 12s Championship to be held in Victoria later in the year. This is a huge honour, and we wish Dakota all the best.
