The last few weeks will see a hive of activity around the school.

On Monday next week we celebrate Foundation Day. It is always important to take time to celebrate milestones. As a young school we have had a major impact on the Great Southern region in the education and boarding landscape. Our offerings that we provide on this uniquely beautiful campus are ones that we should all be proud of. Every student, staff member and community member make a valuable contribution to our school and on Monday we will take time to celebrate, share stories and importantly eat biscuits. In the afternoon we will plant a Foundation Day tree, hold a short assembly in the quadrangle and finish with the Running of the Flags. I always like hearing the stories from past staff members and students about what they remember from GSGs early days. The faith that the parents of the class of 1999 put in the school is exceptional and without their commitment, and yours, the school wouldn’t be in the great position that it is today.

Also, next week the Senior School music students will be performing as a culmination of their semester, with Years Eleven and Twelve having the VET Show on Wednesday and the Year Ten students performing on Thursday with 'Pizza Beats'. While these events can be nerve wracking for students, I am always amazed at the confidence that it gives them after they perform. Like any public event the first time is the scariest. Going out of your comfort zone and putting yourself on the stage in front of family and peers takes a great deal of courage, but knowing that you are prepared, have done hours of practice and have the support of your teachers makes it that little bit easier. I wish all our music students the best for their performances.

In the last week of term our Year Ten students will be learning about the world outside of school when they attend Work Experience. Students are finalising their placements and are looking at all the requirements they need to complete before they start at their workplace. It’s an exciting time.
