Music

Year 7 Music

Students engaged in Film/Television music repertoire as a focus this term. They incorporated the concepts of music to convey functions of music in compositions, including creating a mood and atmosphere for a Sci-fi genre film theme. Students utilised two composition software platforms including Soundtrap and Noteflight to create their compositions.

It was great to see some Year 7 students involved in the College musical, Rock of Ages which was performed at the Wagga Civic Theatre this term. All of Year 7 were invited to attend an excursion to see a performance of Rock of Ages at the theatre, which was a highlight for many students, where they were able to see first hand the collaboration of music, drama and dance.

Year 8 Music

Students performed and arranged various Rock/Pop riffs leading to a Performance/Composition assessment. Students continued to develop performance skills on keyboard and guitar through performances individually and as class ensembles. Students ended the term with a student-centred learning activity, researching a Rock/Pop band or artist through the creation of a Podcast which was presented to their peers. Many Year 8 students were involved in Rock of Ages as leads, dancers, ensemble, band and back stage crew.

Year 9 Music
