Creative Arts / Photography

This term has certainly had its challenges however the students in the creative arts have continued to build, create, perform and inspire others in their creative pursuits.

 

Year 7 Visual Arts

Year 7 Visual Arts have been very busy constructing their Steampunk Sculptures. Steampunk is a retro futuristic style that has an industrial focus. Students created many different types of sculptures from robots to animals using wooden cogs, cardboard, wire, containers and more. Students are currently developing artworks using Photoshop, appropriation and photography.

Year 8 Visual Arts 

Students have explored a range of artmaking practices and exploring their role as a critic in visual arts. Students experimented with a range of printmaking techniques and provided reflections of their practice as to what worked well and what could be done to develop their artworks further. Students are currently working on photography techniques and applying Photoshop editing to make adjustments to their images.

Year 9 Visual Arts

Throughout the term students have developed their understanding of The Conceptual Framework which is used in Visual Arts to develop a deep understanding of artworks. Students selected a contemporary artwork and developed a response addressing the agencies; artwork, artist, audience and world. Students explored artists that use their practice to highlight social and political issues present in the world today. An array of artworks including paste-ups, stencils and sculptures were created by students addressing concerns such as war, power imbalances and climate change. 

Year 9 The Artist 

Students are currently working on collaborative artworks set for display in the T-block hall. Students have developed their concept drawings, created scale drawings, measured spaces and are consistently problem solving as they are developing their large scale artworks. It will be fabulous to see their finished works on display in Term 3.

Year 10 Visual Arts

Students are engaging in developing artworks which are based on the human form. They have explored a range of aspects in the development of their concepts and have taken a range of directions, using a variety of mediums and techniques. Students have also engaged in art historical and critical studies of artist who also use the human form as a part of their practice.

 

Year 10 Photography and Digital Media

Year 10 have explored The Gestalt Principles and the world of design during the term. Students created their own unique brands, guerrilla marketing campaigns and advertising using kinetic typography to promote their brand. Experiential design was explored and students constructed immersive experiences for viewers. Students learnt about The Gruen Effect and how it is still used today.

Year 11 Visual Arts

As students approach the last term of their Year 11 studies have been busy exploring postmodern and contemporary art practices. This has proven to be challenging but the students have developed some very interesting, and at times, humorous responses. Students have correspondingly examined historical and critical studies examining a range of artists and their varied practices and reflections of their world. 

 

Year 12 Visual Arts 

Students have recently exhibited their Body of Works in progress in conjunction with Year 12 Design and Technology students. The aim of the exhibition was to engage in and receive feedback on the clarity of their works as the progress into the final weeks of the development of their artworks. The works were available for students, staff and parents to view and the feedback received has been invaluable. Students have also been completing a series of artist studies which examines artist practice and how artists interpret their worlds. During Week 10, Year 12 Visual Arts and Design and Technology students will engage in a practical based study day, this has proven to be a day which is successful for students development.
