The 2022 NAIDOC theme – Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! – recognises the proud history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples standing up for human rights and recognition.

Whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism, First Nations’ Peoples have a proud history of getting up, standing up, and showing up.

Learning about aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories is integral to a better, shared future, and this years NAIDOC Program focused on providing such opportunities for Year 7 students. This was achieved through a series of hands – on workshops and presentations on Indigenous art, dancing, weaving and artefacts.

Our thanks to Aboriginal School and Community Workers of Wagga Wagga Catholic schools, for sharing their knowledges in leading our workshops at Mater Dei, for their presence and for their contribution in our schools across the Diocese.
