Bastille Day

Auburn High School, as a French binational school, celebrated France’s national day on Bastille Day, otherwise known as “le 14 Juillet”.

Student knowledge of the significance of this day was updated in class with discussions, videos and Kahoots and research was done on French athletes or celebrities leading up to the day.  Knowledge of French culture and history was also celebrated in our Tutor Group treasure hunt as a French question was hidden in each Tutor Group with prizes for successful answers.

Our teaching community is to be congratulated for excellent answers to their staff Kahoot!

On a fun note, the day was marked with occasion to celebrate together with croissants to buy at recess, music, a cartoon, and an opportunity to play pétanque or add a little French “je ne sais quoi” to student’s attire with the help of a professional face painter.  We also had a mime visit some of our classes and entertain students at lunchtime.  Our Year 7 and 8 mainstream students produced some very creative stickers to remind us to have not just a Happy Bastille Day, but a “Joyeux 14 Juillet”!

Vive la liberté!  Vive la France!
