Year 12

TRAG (Teenagers Road Accident Group)

The Mornington Peninsula has the highest rate of roadside accidents in Victoria and those aged in the 15-25 age group are the most vulnerable in our community. TRAG is a local program that aims to reduce incidences of road trauma in this age group by supporting our students to make safe choices whilst on the road. The program is run and presented by people who have had to deal with the consequences of road trauma first hand, including:

  • Victoria Police
  • CFA
  • Ambulance Victoria
  • SES
  • Victims of road trauma as well as family members who have lost loved ones

MSC believes this program is essential for our Year 12 students to experience. It can be a confronting experience and the school’s Wellbeing Team and other Year 12 teachers were available during this program to support our students.

The students returned to school for a bbq, which they thoroughly enjoyed, using the relaxed environment to debrief with each other, the teachers and the wellbeing team.

Elevate Presentation

Elevate – Ace your Exams

Elevate, ‘Ace your exams’ is a targeted session addressing tangible exam-based skills; showing students how to turn skills into results.

Fixing mistakes to ensure constant improvement

Firstly, this program addresses a systematic breakdown of mock exams, helping students identity mistakes and areas of weakness. Students are then provided with strategies to minimize the chance of these mistakes occurring in the exam.

Highest value exam preparation tasks

Secondly, the program focuses on preparation looking at what kind of work is the most efficient. The goal is for every student to walk out of the session knowing what they should be doing and when they should be doing it over the revision period.

Techniques for managing stress and time pressure in exams

Finally, the program tackles exam room techniques. This includes controlling stress, focusing to construct succinct answers to questions and strategies for the allocation of time based on available marks.

Overall, following this session, our Year 12s will walk out knowing what they should be doing to achieve their desired result!

Elevate ‘Ace your Exams’ will be held on Monday the 12th of September, at a cost of $15 per student.

The Year 12 Team urges parents to pay and consent to this fantastic program on Compass by September 5th.
