Denise's Message

Dear Families,

Staff News

Erin Jenkins - It is with much sadness that I announce that Erin will be leaving St Michael's at the end of this term. Erin is leaving to take up a position as Deputy Principal/Diversity Leader at Queen of Peace Primary School, Altona Meadows.

Erin joined St Michael's in 2015 as a classroom teacher and in recent years moved into the role of Wellbeing and Diversity Leader. She has made an enormous contribution to our community ensuring the needs of each child are met fairly and with dignity. She has supported families during difficult and challenging times with great care, trust, and compassion. Her contribution to ensuring the values of our School are lived by all has been enormous and I know each staff member will miss the unwavering support she has offered them with strategies and processes that enable them to engage children in their learning in a safe and nurturing environment. Erin will be greatly missed by all in our community and I will miss her loyalty and solid support. On behalf of all in our community, I wish her every success and happiness in her role at her new school.

Steven Hubbard is currently on Long Service Leave and will return in Week 3 Term 3. Along with his wife, Helen and two children, he is visiting his wife's family in England, a trip that was to be made prior to the COVID lockdowns. We wish him and his family a safe and happy trip and look forward to his return.

Joel Lanza, one of our Year 5/6 Learning Support Officers will be taking leave for the first few weeks of Term 3. He will be heading off on a much-awaited trip overseas with friends, again one that was to be had prior to COVID. We wish him a great trip and look forward to his safe return.

These meetings will take place next Thursday, June 23 from 12.30pm - 7.00pm. All families are expected to make an appointment (online or in-person) to speak to their child's teacher and all children are expected to attend with their parents.  At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss your child's Semester 1 progress and achievements, as well as the focus for their learning in the upcoming Semester 2.

Reports will be sent home early next week prior to these conversations.

School will finish at 12.30pm on Thursday, June 23. After-school care is available if required for the remainder of this day, please contact YLV to make a booking.

School Fees

Thank you to all our families who have ensured their payment of fees is up to date. If you have concerns about your fee payment please make an appointment to see me.

End of Term 2

I am very proud of all the achievements our children have made during this first Semester of learning for 2022. At times it has been very challenging but it has been very pleasing to see our children and staff step up and perform above and beyond all that is expected of them. I am extremely privileged to work in this community and know that we have the most dedicated and caring staff. Our children continue to amaze us by how they approach their learning with great enthusiasm and a desire to do better and our families continue to support their children and our staff in many varied ways.

I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday. May it be a time spent relaxing, re-energising, and spending time with family and friends.

School finishes on Friday 24 June at 2.30pm.
