Stepping into VCE Arts Exhibition

During November 2017, the Arts Domain organized the 2017 Step into VCE Arts Exhibition.

Students from years 10 and 11 Art, Studio Arts, Visual Communication & Design, all exhibited works to be placed into this now Annual Exhibition. The exhibition was a space where students from these year levels could showcase what they achieved throughout the year. It is a space that gave them ownership and enables them to be able to participate in an Arts Exhibition along side the Middle Years Arts Exhibition (which takes place late in Term 2) and the VCE Arts Exhibition Term 4).

Students and staff were given the opportunity to vote for their  favourite piece of Art work.

I would like to congratulate the following students who gained the most votes. These students will be presented with a KSC Certificate and a  voucher from  Zart Art.

1st Place    Anna Barrett (Sunset painting)

2nd Place   Vanessa Ponza (External stimuli)

3rd Place   Jessica Jana (Memphis toaster)

"In semester 2 of 2017, one of our folio tasks for Visual Communications Design was to complete an Isometric Memphis Toaster for the brand Breville.

The Memphis Design movement was an Italian design and architecture group that was founded in 1981-2 in the city of Milan by Ettore Sottsass. Their designs consisted of postmodern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, glass and metal objects. You can depict the Memphis design by its bright colours, funky patterns and weird shapes.

We used that research along with 80’s pop music videos and cartoons to achieve our toaster design. Not only was our purpose to complete an assignment but along the way I learned a couple of techniques including rendering to represent form and to depict tone but also used paraline drawing techniques of Isometric to depict and 80’s Memphis inspired toaster.

As you can see, I followed the design brief and my final design consisted of a weird/odd shaped toasted where it’s arched twice on the top. I incorporated bright and said “girly” colours but had a Memphis pattern on the front that was inspired by my research images. I also included Breville on the design as it is a Breville branded toaster."

Well done and thank you to all students who exhibited in the Step into VCE Arts Exhibition.

VCE Studio Arts Excursion March 2018

Triennial National Gallery Victoria – International

Year 11 and 12 students visited the amazing exhibition at the NGV and saw some of the world’s most impressive contemporary artworks. Students were confronted by the scale of large works and the deep philosophical content of other works.

Featuring the work of over 100 artists and designers from 32 countries, the NGV Triennial surveys the world of art and design, across cultures, scales, geographies and perspectives.

Students had the opportunity to look at the world and its past, present and future through the eyes of some of the most creative minds working today whilst having an opportunity to reflect on their own artistic practice.
