French students visit Koonung

French exchange students enjoy their Koonung experience

Lycée Baudimont Exchange

You may have seen French students around the school recently. Our French sister school from Arras, in the north of France, have been enjoying their visit to Koonung and Melbourne, for the past two weeks.

They arrived late on Sunday night to the excited group of Koonung families at Melbourne airport. (some carrying Aussie flags). Over the course of two weeks, the French students have engaged in many interesting activities, from joining the host student’s classes, the swimming carnival, art activities including Australian history, netball, visiting the museum and Healesville Sanctuary, Botanical Gardens, Shrine of Remembrance, cooking ANZAC biscuits, singing lessons, and much more! Especially on the weekend, the hosts took the French students all around Melbourne.

Hosting the French students has been very fun, the French students have learnt a lot about Australia, and we’ve enjoyed our time together. Hosting the French students and showing them around, as well as looking after them has been fantastic. Hopefully, the French students' time in Australia has vastly increased their skill in English; My French correspondant Joshua and I also tried some vegemite on bread. I’m pretty sure you’d know his reaction. He described it as “dégoûtant”!
