Level 5/6

Level 5 and 6 News

What a celebration of learning we have had during the past few weeks! The Level 5 and 6 students have thoroughly enjoyed showcasing their understanding of the topic ‘Change and Sustainability for the Future’ for our Open Classroom session as a part of Education Week, which was unfortunately postponed. The students used the knowledge they have gained throughout our inquiry this term to create their own Stop Motion video. They were required to research their chosen topic and work collaboratively to create an animation calling for change in human behaviour and the impact we have on the environment.

We have also been exploring the elements of slam poems and what makes them effective. The students have loved using a variety of poetic devices to ensure they have written some amazing poems and have proudly performed these in front of their peers. Level 5/6 have also really enjoyed the opportunity to share their reading skills each morning as a part of our new daily 5 routine where the students read independently for 5 minutes then to a partner and then listen to their partner read. It has been wonderful to see the students eagerly listening to one another and sharing their thoughts on the text they have chosen to read.

Level 5/6 Sport continues to be a favourite for many of our students as they have been able to fine-tune and develop their sporting skills for their chosen sport. Within each sport, teams have now been chosen, positions are being worked on and the students are preparing for the upcoming interschool sports competition. This is also providing another opportunity for many of our students to showcase and develop their leadership skills as they take on the positions of Captain and Vice-Captain for their team. We are so proud of the way the students at Rangeview take on these roles and wish everybody the best of luck for next week.
