Foundation

There continues to be so much going on in Foundation! After our Myuna Farm excursion we have continued to learn about farm animals and what they give us. We are enjoying getting creative and making lots of farm animals and then seeing them on display outside our classrooms. We were also fortunate enough to get some eggs to hatch. We waited in anticipation for the cracking to begin, it felt like forever, and then loved seeing how the chicks break out of the eggs. It has been very exciting having nine chicks around our classrooms, and we are looking forward to playing with them and watching them grow further!

To continue our Inquiry Farm topic, we have been designing and building a Chicken Coop for all our new chicks. It has been hard work to think of new ideas and things for the chickens to do in the coops. We got creative and used all of the recycling materials (Thanks families!) to build our very own chicken coop. We then enjoyed sharing with our classes about different places the chickens could go inside our coops.

We celebrated Peter Puppy Pyjama Day, and focused on including so many things that start with a P! We were lucky the weather was cold and enjoyed being super snuggly all day long. There was a parade, we took pictures, we made popcorn, and learnt about pigs. We even had a special visitor: Peppa Pig! We had such a great time learning about all the P things, and enjoyed being the only people in the whole school who got to wear their pyjamas!

Last week to got to participate in the National Simultaneous Story Time and read a beautiful book called Family Tree by Josh Pyke. Some people went to the library to listen to the story and others heard it in their classroom. Just a reminder to continue to log all the books you read onto the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Keep on reading and enjoying all the wonderful stories that are out there!

On Thursday we also celebrated National Sorry Day, by remembering and learning about the Stolen Generation. We made commemorative Sorry Day flowers to display in our classrooms and read stories that help us understand what happened. We learnt about wrinkled hearts and how to look after other people as to not wrinkle their hearts.

Have a lovely week and stay safe and healthy!
