Year 6 Spirituality and Religion Walking Tour - Tuesday 31 May

Year 6 students will be undertaking walking tours to visit a range of religious and cultural places as we inquire into ‘Who we are’. The aim of these visits is to build an appreciation for, and an understanding of the interrelationship between religion, culture and spirituality. We hope these excursions will help us to approach diversity with respect and tolerance.

On Tuesday 31 May we will depart Morris at 9.00am to walk to the Hobart Mosque, Warwick Street, West Hobart. We will walk via Friends’ Quaker Park and have a short break with access to toilets before arriving at the Mosque at 10.00am. We will then have a break for lunch. Our next place of worship will be the Baha’i Centre of Learning, Tasman Highway, Hobart at 12.30pm. We will then walk back to school via Soundy Park for a break to be back to Morris by 3.00pm. Students will wear PE uniform and require a packed lunch and plenty of water to drink. No lunch orders on these days please.

Year 2 Outdoor Education | Art on the Mountain - Wednesday 8 June

On Wednesday 8 June 2022 all Year 2 students will be going to Mount Wellington/Kunanyi to explore how various cultures and individuals express themselves through the Arts. This is part of the Year 2 Outdoor Education program and will be facilitated by the Year 2 teachers and our Outdoor Education teacher, Lauren Stranger. The day will be in normal school hours and students will need to wear school sports uniform. It will be cold so please ensure students have sufficient layers of clothing including their school shell jacket. They will also need to bring their lunch, snacks, a drink bottle, school hat, waterproof jacket (we have a limited supply at school), beanie, gloves and any required personal medications for the day (please ensure that these are labelled appropriately). Please update student Operoo profiles before the excursion.

Kindergarten - Earthcare Excursions Term 2 Lenah Valley

The Kindergarten children will be visiting a site near the Lenah Valley Linea Park for their Earthcare Days this term. We will be going on Thursday 2 and 9 June and will be leaving school on a bus at 12.00pm and will return by 2.45pm. The excursions are part of our Sharing the planet Unit of Inquiry. We are aiming to develop responsibility and resilience in a natural environment. Please ensure that your child has a rubbish-free lunch at Kindergarten, especially on Thursdays to help practise Earthcare and awareness about the impacts of soft plastic on our natural environment. Your child will need appropriate warm clothing for the forecasted weather and spare clothing packed for the excursions as we will be playing outdoors even when it is raining. The school has wet weather jackets and overpants that the children will wear if necessary, depending on the forecasted weather. You can also support them by encouraging them to carry their own bags to and from school since they will be doing this on our Earthcare days too. We are looking forward to seeing how their natural curiosity and wonder is expressed while we are there. Please contact the Kindergarten team if you have any questions.

Absentees

If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Morris Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: morrisadmin@friends.tas.edu.au) and the classroom teacher before 9.00am. We appreciate your support in this process.
