Boarding

Lifeskills update:

Our boarders have been busy this week preparing for Mother’s Day this Sunday. In appreciation and support of our mum’s, boarders created personalised card’s this week. The care, attention and detail in creating a special card for mum was wonderful to see. We acknowledge the support of our House Mum’s, Lise Lowe and Carolyn Coate in caring so deeply for our younger boarders. We also acknowledge the support all of our mum’s at home provide to our boarding community.

Congratulations to Khem

Last weekend Khem Ressom attempted to gain his Black Belt in Karate. Khem has worked tirelessly over Term one to learn routines, improve his fitness, and perform at his best in a contest. Over two days Khem was tested and judged and successfully gained his First Degree Senior Black Belt. Part of the rigorous testing include 10min of sparing, and a one-thousand repetitions task covering pushups, situps, squats and lunges. Congratulations Khem and we look forward to witnessing further success for you.

A visit from the past

This week I was blessed to be guide Old Collegians Lynne and Elaine Timms around the Myrniong Campus and Boarding House. Elaine was a Collegian in 1955 and was a boarder at Alexandra House. Lynne too was a boarder, and then returned to College as a MOD in our Boarding House for 12 years. The rich story of their life on the farm was inspiring. Listening to stories from boarding days was a mixture of amazement and humour. The gratitude they shared of their father providing them with an opportunity to attend College was heartfelt, and as tears flowed on their departure, their love of The Hamilton and Alexandra College was palpable. I thank Lynne and Elaine for their visit and the sharing of stories from their past. I further wish Lynne a happy 80th birthday and many happy returns.
