Junior School Buddies Project

Our Year Two and Year Six students have been working on a rich and open-ended ‘buddies’ activity where they constructed a range of famous structures from around the world with cups, straws, tape and paper. Their work is on display in the Myrniong foyer. Part of the task involved the ‘buddies’ writing clues to the identity of their structure. Here are some examples:

  1. Our structure is in the capital city of NSW. You can see multiple shows inside it. Our structure is a place where people like singing - what is it?
  2. People drive over it. Parts of it lift. Boats can go under it. It is in England - what is it?
  3. Our structure is in an Italian city starting with ‘P’.  It is a world heritage site. Our structure leans - what is it?

House Cross Country

Congratulations to all of the Junior School students who participated in the annual House Cross Country event held across the road at Parklands Golf Course on Tuesday. I am very grateful to Mr. Peter Irvin and his committee for again allowing us the use of their course for our running practice and events.

During PE lessons for the last few weeks of Term One and again leading into the House Cross Country this term, students have been working on their running technique, positive running mindset and endurance in preparation for their run.  They made their own running goals to work towards both during training and on the competition day and I am very proud of all students for trying their best for both themselves and their House.

Congratulations to the runners who earned a placing for their age-group on the day – a wonderful effort in very windy conditions!

Congratulations to the students who have qualified to compete at the HDSA Cross Country next Thursday at Lake Hamilton.  You will be notified by the end of the week.  Parents, please keep an eye on Operoo for permission forms, a lake map and other important details.
