Foundation:
Foundation children have been expressing themselves in many different ways. Children have been learning about all the different ways people can express themselves; using words, body language, facial expressions. Children have used photos and images to look at different perspectives, and other people's ways of looking at things, to see through the eyes of another.
Self-manager and collaborator have been our focus learning assets. Children have been practising how to be a good self-manager and successful ways to collaborate with others. Children have been able to verbalise how these assets work. They have thought of examples like, "putting my jumper on by myself", "zip up my bag", "speak nicely".
Children have been practising lots of counting while they play, and transferring their ideas to their bookmaking.
Year 1:
The children have been exploring communication throughout their Wonder Play; how to successfully communicate with others, how to communicate thoughts and feelings when sharing learning, all of the different ways we can communicate - words, images, sounds. Children have shown their understanding of communication by drawing, creating, making, role playing and sharing their thinking verbally.
Year 1 children have also looked into worded problems using addition and subtraction, identifying words that help us solve the problem, and working out what the question is asking us to do. Children have shown their understanding by making, drawing, writing and explaining their processes with each other and the class.
Year 2:
Year 2 children have been identifying the many meanings of the word "perspective"; where we see it, how we express it, the benefits of learning from others' perspectives. Children have completed ‘still drawing’, showing their sketching skills, while noticing detail and being able to compare their perspective to that of others. Children have been learning about Jesus, and reflecting on their perspective of Jesus, drawing what they think he is like.
Communication has been the learning asset focus. What do good communicators do? What do they look like? Children have identified and named skills such as the use of appropriate volume, tone and eye contact, and have been able to demonstrate these skills in learning time.
Year 3:
What incredible learners we have in Year 3. Last week saw children complete their first NAPLAN and it’s fair to say Learning Mentors and Learning Support Officers were so proud of how the children approached each day with positivity and a willingness to do their best. We thank families for their support and encouragement of our children in such a new experience.
Children have delved deep into forces! 'May the force be with you' has taken off with excitement and enthusiasm. Children have explored procedural texts, instructional verbs, following procedures and problem solving as they work their way through a variety of experiments identifying forces. Children have had to persist and identify strategies to work through when things don’t go to plan.

In Foundation, we have been learning about ‘our special book’ the Bible. We read the story, ‘Let the children come’, and practised some writing for our reflection.
