Students represent college at winter sports

Students from Years 9 and 10 (and a few Year 8 boys) recently competed in the GMDSSSA Intermediate and Senior Winter Sports Day. St Anne’s College was represented in netball, boys' and girls' soccer and boys' AFL. Although team numbers from all schools were down on previous years due to ongoing COVID infections, it was great to see our young people back competing on the ovals, pitches and courts of the Shepparton district. Our next major representative event for students is the Division Cross Country which will be held next Tuesday, May 24, at Princess Park.

A dream come true for Lara and Jett

School of Wonder children Lara and Nate Stevens and Jett Chisholm have an exciting weekend ahead as they will be among the youngsters who take to the MCG to show off their footy skills at halftime, during the iconic annual Dreamtime match between Richmond and Essendon as part of the 2022 Sir Doug Nicholls Round on Saturday, May 21.

Celebrating the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to Australian Football and the country, the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which will be celebrated over Rounds 10 and 11 of the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, coincides with the 30th anniversary of the historic 1992 Mabo decision, where the High Court of Australia recognised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ traditional ownership of land and country, and that ‘terra nullius’ should not have been applied to Australia.

Sir Doug Nicholls was a Yorta Yorta man who grew up at Cummeragunja, on the Murray River near Barmah. He played football for Tongala, Melbourne clubs and Victoria. We hope you have an awesome time Lara, Nate and Jett!

St Anne's Sports Association needs volunteers

Are you interested in joining the St Anne’s Sports Association Committee?

The St Anne’s Sports Association (SASA) is an independent incorporated organisation that brings together a committee of motivated community members to develop, coordinate, manage and maintain sporting connections and opportunities for all students of St Anne’s College, Kialla and the broader community.

The committee consists of 12 volunteer members. We currently have some vacancies to fill; preferably to represent the sporting interests of senior school students, but representatives from throughout the school are welcome.

To express interest in joining the committee, please email sasakialla@gmail.com with the following:

Seeking volunteers for sub-committees – soccer, netball and fundraising!

Are you an enthusiastic person who wants to make a big difference to the St  Anne’s sporting community? We are looking for fantastic volunteers, like you, to bring your skills, ideas, experience and time to join one of the sub-committees of the St  Anne’s Sports Association. The association is independent from the school and is solely reliant on grants, donations and sponsorships. Volunteers are needed to assist with organising fundraisers to keep our kids’ sports running. If fundraising is not your cup of tea, you might be interested in helping out with coordinating our current soccer teams or planning for future netball teams? We currently have 7 soccer teams from Foundation to Year 3 and while the season is up and running, there is still lots to coordinate; so a sub-committee for soccer would be very welcome!

How can you get involved? To express interest in joining a SASA sub-committee or if you have any questions, please email sasakialla@gmail.com with the following:

  • Your name
  •  Mobile #
  • Email
  • Preferred Sub-Committee – current soccer, netball and/or fundraising
  • Your connection to St Anne’s College
  • Any experience you have in playing, coaching, umpiring, managing or coordinating sporting activities, fundraising etc.

We look forward to hearing from you!
