David's Message

Dear Sunny Heights Parents and Carers,

We might have finished up the week feeling a bit sleepy, but the excitement of Twilight School was worth the two year wait! It was amazing to see so many parents, carers and ex-students visit our classrooms and join in the learning. We have to say a very special thank you to the Canteen and Fundraising parents who cooked up and served over 350 halal and vegan sausages in just over an hour. The groups of students and parents wandering the grounds by torchlight was also lovely to see; it makes me excited about doing this next year when the Nugal-nganjin garden and the inclusive play spaces will both be finished. What a treat they will be by torchlight!

Our grounds are about to have a few major changes happen to them in the coming weeks and months. There will be two additional shade sails being placed in the middle section of the school. We had hoped that the poles for these would be sunk down into the earth, however digging has meant a need for the poles to be bolted to the concrete. We will then be thinking about how we can add some seating around or under these poles in the coming weeks.

The second major development is the Inclusive Schools PlaySpace at the front of the school, acted to begin in August. The builders have been waiting on one piece of equipment that has a long lead in time, due to our community requesting wooden and natural pieces that will fit with the themes of sustainability and natural play. The build time will be around 14 weeks which will mean a grand opening some time in term 4 - we can't wait!
