STEM Term 3

Prep - Grade 2

This term, we are working with Melbourne Zoo to create an enrichment tool for an animal at the Zoo! All animals need enrichment to have fun and play, but also to keep them healthy. Enrichment tools could be toys, games, puzzles to help animals use up extra energy to help them stay in the Green Zone, just like humans! This term, students are going to design and build a prototype. They are then going to send their designs to the Zookeepers for feedback.

Grade 3

This term, we are working with Monash University to use Minecraft to create healthy futures. Students will be completing a community and school audit to see how we could improve our spaces to make them healthier and more inclusive. From there, students will use the Design Thinking Process to plan and build their design in Minecraft.

Grade 4-6

This term, our goal is to build a town in Minecraft that can withstand a natural disaster. Students have been researching a natural disaster of their choice and will apply these learnings to inform their decision making in Minecraft. Students will be justifying the materials they use and their design to show how they will protect their townspeople.

Check out some of the students' ideas above!

I am really looking forward to another fantastic term of learning, collaboration and design!
