Performing Arts Term 3

Prep

This Term, the Preps will be focussing on piano/keyboard and the treble clef stave. We will be focussing on C, D and E and students will be learning how to identify the notes on the piano and stave as well as playing simple melodies.

In addition to this, Preps will continue to explore sounds with different instruments.

As always, there will be plenty of time for singing and dancing along to different nursery and some of our favourite songs.

Grade 1/2

This Term, the Grade 1/2 students will be focussing on piano/keyboard and the treble clef stave. We will be starting with C, D and E, then gradually move through the rest of the music alphabet. Students will be learning how to identify the notes on the piano and stave as well as playing simple melodies.

There will be plenty of time for singing and dancing along to different nursery and some of our favourite songs. We will also explore some music from other cultures.

At the end of the Term, Grade 1/2 students will be going to see a theatre show called 'Waru Turtle'. 

Grade 3/4

This Term, for the first few weeks the students in Grade 3/4 will be focussing on piano/keyboard and the treble and bass clef stave. Students will be learning how to identify the notes on the piano and staves as well as playing simple songs. We will then revisit ukulele and guitar, and students will be able to focus on the instrument of their choice.

At the end of the Term, Grade 4 students will be going to see a theatre show called 'Carnival of the Animals'.

Grade 5/6

This Term, for the first few weeks the students in Grade 5/6 will be focussing on piano/keyboard and the treble and bass clef stave. Students will be learning how to identify the notes on the piano and staves as well as playing simple songs. We will then revisit ukulele and guitar, and students will be able to focus on the instrument of their choice.

In addition. to this, Grade 5 students will continue to work on their projects for the Dream Big Youth Music Festival. They will be presenting these live at the Bowery Theatre at the end of the Term.
