100 Days of School

We will be celebrating our 100th day of school on Monday 31st July. To celebrate this HUGE milestone,  we will be having a day of 100 themed activities. The students are also encouraged to dress up as though they are 100 years old! Think grey hair, glasses, walking sticks etc. We cannot wait to see the brilliant costumes and excited faces!

Lego Incursion

On Wednesday 2nd August, we are lucky to have a special guest Lego presenter come to school (someone you may have seen on the last season of Lego Masters!).

We will be building Lego machines and doing Lego challenges as a part of our Toys Inquiry unit. It is a great incursion for STEM exploration and fine motor skills. We are all looking forward to it.

This incursion is $10 and is now listed on the Qkr app ready for payment. The children come to school in uniform as normal, as all activities will take place in our classrooms.

Payment is due on Qkr by Wednesday 26th July.

Wheels Parade

We will be discussing wheels for our Inquiry topic this term and will celebrate with a wheels parade in the morning on Wednesday 9th August! Students are encouraged to bring along a toy that has wheels (bike, scooter, pram, remote control car etc). If you wish to hang around and watch, we would love to see you there!

Integrated – Term 3

This term, we are learning about Toys. We will be learning about the history of toys and how they have changed over time. Also, we will be learning how toys move and get to plan and build our own toys. As part of this, we need lots and lots of boxes! Can you please start collecting boxes at home to bring to school next term? These boxes can be any size – cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, paper towel rolls, soap boxes, biscuit boxes etc. Please do not send in any egg cartons, medicine boxes or toilet rolls.

Book Week – Writing Competition

To celebrate Book Week, VPS is holding a writing competition! Book Week’s theme this year is Read, Grow, Inspire and so, the theme for the writing competition is 'Grow'. Students might like to write about growing up, how a plant grows, a magic growing potion or use their imagination. The competition is optional and there will be a prize for the best entry by a Foundation student. Student’s need to bring their amazing writing to their teacher by 14th August to be in the running for a prize. Good luck – we can’t wait to read all of your amazing stories!

Messy Play!

Over the next few weeks weeks each class will be participating in messy play as part of our inquiry topic. Please ensure your child's art smock is back at school. They may come home with some paint on their clothing but this will come out in the wash.

PMP fun!

Our students have been loving our Perceptual Motor Program this year and it is always a highlight when we can fit it into our busy schedules. Earlier this term we ventured outside for some fun gross motor skills based activities. Here are some snaps from the session.

Money, money money!

Our students have been learning about money in their maths lessons this term. They've been learning to recognise and order Australian coins, and learning about what money is used for. Some of our students got to practise setting up shops and having a practise of trading money for goods.
