Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope everybody had a relaxing and enjoyable break with their families. It is an extremely busy term ahead with our School Art Show, Book Week, Eucharist and Confirmation, Write A Book In A Day and the P-2 swimming program. A busy, but exciting term to look forward to. Please be sure to look at the dates of events on this newsletter and put them in your diaries.

Lord,

At the beginning of this new term teach us to

Be your hands and feet where we are,

At the beginning of this new term teach us to

Love as you love us,

At the beginning of this new term teach us to

Pray and care for those in need

Amen

Eucharist and Confirmation

Last night information sessions were held for parents wishing to enroll their children in the parish Eucharist and Confirmation sacramental program. The first of the presentation masses will be held next weekend 22nd and 23rd July. If any family has any questions regarding the sacramental program, please do not hesitate to contact Jayne Brumby or Tanya Stewart. We wish the children and their families God’s blessings as they take this next important step on their faith journey.

Swimming P-2 Program

A reminder to all parents that our P-2 swimming program commences next Thursday. The children will go every Thursday from the 20th July to 31st August. Please look on PAM to give permission for your child to participate. If you do not wish for your child to participate, can you let the office know ASAP, as we have to finalise numbers. Due to the requirements of child safe standards, parents volunteering to help with changing at the end of the sessions will be required to produce a Working With Children Check at the school office. This will be copied and kept on file.

Welcome back Andre

This term our DDT teacher, Judy Cleve, will be on long service leave. Andre DeLorenzo will be teaching DDT in Judy’s absence. We welcome Andre back on board for the term and wish Judy a restful break.

Food Bank

We are looking for more volunteers to contribute to our food bank. Our coordinator, Brooke Fleming, does a wonderful job organizing parents to cook meals for families in need. We are, however, looking for more volunteers to provide simple meals such as a pie, lasagna, casserole etc. This is a small, yet really important part of our catholic school culture and is always appreciated and well received by families. If you are able to contribute, please contact the school office.

Prayer Gatherings

Prayer gatherings are a significant part of the life of our school and are a wonderful way to celebrate the work of our children in a prayerful manner. We are also fortunate to be able to have regular access to our beautiful church. As we begin a new term and semester, I thought it timely to put out a reminder of the expectations when attending prayer gatherings so that we celebrate the occasion, but also maintain a prayerful atmosphere. The following is an excerpt of a letter sent to parents some time ago;

We ask for your cooperation in order to make our prayer gatherings a prayerful experience for the whole school community;

  • Please do not bring food/drink into the church (including takeaway coffee)
  • Please refrain from standing in your seat and taking video/photographs during prayer gathering
  • Please clap at the end of the prayer gathering to thank the class for their efforts in leading us in prayer rather than applaud individual items

Your understanding and cooperation with this is appreciated.

A reminder that Monday July 31st is a pupil free day. Enjoy the rest of your wee
