FIRE Carriers
The Little Long Walk
As FIRE Carriers, we were very excited to be told that we would be hosting our very own Little Long Walk. We had got help from Janaya to make a special banner. We started off with a plain banner, then decorated it with paints, textas and crayons. We painted our hands with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag colours, then placed them on the banner to make the flags in the shape of our hands. We also drew people of many different nationalities holding hands.
On Wednesday 21 June, the whole school participated in the Little Long Walk. The day started with the smoking ceremony. During the ceremony, the whole school came up and cleansed themselves with the smoke by walking through it.
On the walk, the FIRE Carriers proudly held our banner as well as another banner Janaya brought. We led the school around the block twice. Everyone walked quietly in their grades, to represent the school. It was a peaceful and respectful time. We are very grateful to have had this wonderful opportunity.
