Solo Night

Last week we held our Solo nights, the public performance component of our Term 2 Ensemble program CAT. Students prepared a solo to perform for family and friends in the PAC.

These performance nights are a great chance for students to build resilience in a supportive environment, as they battle and overcome their nerves to present their work. There were fabulous performances from all year levels, with one student selected to perform at the Winter Concert in recognition of his excellent musicianship. Congratulations to Finn Ibrahim, who was selected from among many outstanding performers.

Winter Concert

On Tuesday evening we held our Winter Concert in the Gym, well attended by family and friends. Soloists, Year 2 VET Bands, Beginning, Intermediate and Senior Concert Bands, String Ensemble and Saxophone Ensemble produced some great performances, and it was a wonderful celebration of the talents of our music students. Many thanks to our Music support group for organising door collection, raffles, food for sale and even sound engineering throughout the evening!

Our concert hosts, Band Captains Georgia Macrae, Oscar Waring, PJ Pitman Jones and Allison Hollins did an outstanding job of keeping the evening flowing smoothly, and thanks also to Vincent, Darren and the Year 7 PE classes for chair set up, and for organising the most important element of a successful Winter event in the gym: heaters!!

A huge thank you to Amanda Linton Emma Moffat and Adrian Montagnese for their preparation of students, equipment set up, filming, photography and for their positive vibes throughout the evening, they really are a great music team!

Senior Band and Jazz Syndicate only have a few rehearsals left until they fly up to Sydney for the Australian International Music Festival, in the second week of the school holidays. This is such an exciting opportunity for our students to hear bands and choirs from across Australia and from overseas, to workshop with guest conductors and other festival participants, and to perform in world class venues. We can’t wait!!
