Principal's Report

Simone Wood, Principal

Hi Everyone,

In the Wellbeing section today is some timely support for those winter blues.

At about this time of the year when the weather is very cold and dark, our minds can turn away from the positives around us.

                                                           Optimism can be the key.

One of my past Principals used to quote the Optimist creed. You may be familiar with it.

'Focus on the doughnut, not the hole’. This simple advice is lovely and easy to understand. Nothing is or should be perfect, there are always going to be holes in our doughnuts. If that’s all we concentrate on then we’ll forget about the delicious doughnut we have.

Perhaps your family is going somewhere warm for the break. I'm off to Kakadu.

Warm or not, take some time to get everyone working on their Optimism. It supports resilience, self-esteem and a positive mindset. We are half way through the year and now officially closer to the next level of schooling. This is when everyone can use their optimism, resilience and a positive mindset to keep looking forward with goals and strategies in place to get there.

Have a lovely winter break!
