Principal's News

Happy Holidays!!

What a great end to the term for our students and staff as they enjoyed the annual St. Joseph’s ‘Friendship Fair’. The ‘friendship’ element shone through in so many ways: we started the day with a very our end of term assembly, with the usual awards, birthday celebrations and a snippet from last night’s instrumental music concert (well done Alyssia and Gabriele); a vast array of ‘stalls’ with many exciting activities for the children to enjoy and a fantastic range of talent on show at our ‘St Joseph’s Got Talent' afternoon. Aside from the fun, laughter and friendship, the day's endeavours will go towards supporting Ellie to continue her education in Tanzania post A levels. Such a worthy cause.

Thank you to our dedicated SRC team, led by Mrs Carman, for ensuring a great day was had by all.

I am confident that after a busy term, there will be some well-deserved, and much-needed sleep-ins for students and staff alike in the coming days.

St Joseph's Got Talent!

Parent Teacher Interviews

Our parent-teacher interviews will take place on Monday 17th July and this is an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s Semester 1 school report and to chat to the teacher about goals moving forward. You do not need to bring your child to these interviews.

Book your session using this link: https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/uwdgv

PLEASE NOTE  A NORMAL 3.30PM FINISH TIME FOR STUDENTS ON THIS DAY

Thanks for the sweet treats...

Thank you to our Year 3 and Year 4 parents for baking the beautiful cakes and slices for our cake sale- and thanks to all those who purchased something in our end of term fundraiser.

We also thank Jen, David and Jade for providing today's hot lunch- it was a huge hit with the students.

Congratulations Callum!

Callum competed at the Southern Metro Regional Cross Country event at Hastings on Wednesday 14th June and placed 5th in the U9/10 Boys! Next stop: State Championships on Thursday 13th July!

Interschool Lightning Premierships: soccer, netball and football

Well done to all of our Year 5 and 6 students, who each participated in at least one of the recent lightning premiership days for the Dendy District.

Top marks for being great sports and representing our school with pride, and congratulations to our boy’s soccer team for coming first place- the first soccer silverware in my time at St Joseph’s!

Liturgies and open-book sessions

One of our goals in our 2023 Annual Action Plan was to create, post-lockdown, plenty of opportunities for parental involvement in the life of our school and in the spiritual life of St Joseph's. One of our termly actions/ strategies to achieve this goal is to host end of term liturgies, followed by open-book sessions, for our parents and families. It was a delight to see so many of you attend these special sessions this week, and I know many of you would have had to juggle work commitments with your attendance.  We sincerely hope that you find these opportunities beneficial, as I know the students just love it when mum/ dad/ gran etc come into school. Thank you!

A Final Thank you...

Thank you all for a wonderful term- it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with your children, and we look forward to the fun, laughter and learning that the next term will bring to our community.

A special mention to our dedicated and hard-working staff, who have given so much to our students this semester. We are truly blessed to have them working with our children at St. Joseph's.

Your child’s report will be issued today via a link to the Nforma system; please take a moment to reflect and celebrate your child’s achievements this semester, they have worked so hard!

I will send a full list of important dates in my 'welcome to the term' letter at the end of the holidays.

Students return on Tuesday 11th July as staff have Day 4 of the Berry Street Education Model training on Monday 10th July

Wishing you all a safe, relaxing and (hopefully) peaceful holiday.
