Principal's message

School holidays

As we finish Term 2 today I would like to wish everyone a safe and refreshing Winter holiday break. I am looking forward to not having the crazy morning rush getting out the front door with my two boys.

The staff return on Monday 17th July for our School Development Day where we will be receiving professional development with new features on iPads and work with a trauma informed counsellor from KidsXpress.

Students return on Tuesday 18th July.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN individual student reports for Years 3 and 5 will be arriving at school early next term. Once they have arrived we will inform parents.

A fact sheet for parents and carers regarding NAPLAN 2023 results and the new proficiency standards will also be provided in the parent report envelopes.

Complaints handling

A reminder that there is a process within the school for managing and handling complaints.

In the first instance, please speak to your class teacher about the matter. If it is unable to be resolved, the next step is to speak to the Assistant Principal for your child’s stage. Most concerns and issues are resolved at this level.

Should the matter not be resolved or if it is of a highly sensitive nature, please contact the Deputy Principal, Mrs Schafer or the Principal who can help to resolve the matter. The best way to do this is in writing to the school email address.

All concerns are managed in a highly confidential manner following the department’s complaints management policy. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week is our chance to honour and celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. While NAIDOC Week officially takes place during our holiday break, Peakhurst Public School will celebrate in the first week back next term. This year’s theme, ‘For Our Elders’, respects and recognises the vital role of Elders.

In Week 2, Term 3 we will continue our celebrations with an Aboriginal storyteller visit.

During Reconciliation Week earlier in the term our students completed a combined art work based on our local totem animal, the eel. Each section contains the initials of the students in the class that completed that part. The finished product is now proudly on the wall in the Gumbuya Centre. Many thanks to Mrs Zanetti for her creative and artistic skills and Mrs Jones in the Office who laminated and put all the pieces together on the wall.

Financial Assistance

Each year public school's are given funds to assist families that require financial support. If you do require assistance in these difficult times please contact the Office and arrange a time to meet with me and we will go through the term invoice together to see where we can assist. This needs to be done each term.
