VCE Art Show Opening Night 2022 -  6:00-8:00pm Monday 10 October

With much pleasure I can report that a good time was had by all who attended our Annual VCE Art show Opening Night in The John Landy Centre on Monday evening, 6-8pm on October 10.

On display was an amazing gallery of Art, Visual Communication Design and Product Design & Technology folios and final artworks, testament to the creativity and resilience of all our amazing VCE Art & Design students who studied Unit 3 & 4 VCD, Product Design &Technology and Studio Arts studies in 2022, which by all accounts was a very challenging (and also short) VCE year!

Various student speakers also shared their journey in these subjects to a very interested and supportive audience, and their insight into their collective creative journeys and the challenges that they faced over the course of the year was enlightening and authentic. It was also extra nice to hear that they also thought that the efforts that they had put into each subject had paid off for them both personally and educationally, and it was an additional bonus to also hear some unsolicited praise for the efforts of their teachers in helping them transcend the many obstacles of the year. What a great vibe it was!

Musical accompaniment by a quartet consisting of teachers Mr Norm Grimmett, Mr David Palmer & students Harris M & Kevin Z helped to set the mood perfectly, and the whole occasion felt (and indeed was) rather special indeed. Thanks so much for this additional help from our much loved (and mightily talented) music people! Mr Brett Lamb (our own much-loved Media guru) also gave the audience a sneak-peek of the forthcoming VCE Media film night which was very well received.

A big thank you also must be given to our Unit 3 & 4 VCE teachers, Rebecca Parker (Studio Arts) and Ebony Pham (Product Design & Technology) as well as all of the Art Department teachers who threw themselves into setting up, curating the art works and hosting with total and unwavering commitment.

The VCE folios remain on display in The John Landy Centre for the duration of the week & many students from all year levels will be given a chance to view the works as part of their regular Art & Design classes which helps give them a solid picture of what amazing things can be achieved if you choose to put the hard work in and commit to these subjects.

Well done to one and all for a really great night!
