THRIVE & BERRY STREET TRAINING

Our curriculum is based on LIVE YOUR VALUES and BE HEALTHY this term. Classes are completing THRIVE lessons based on values associated with this. These include curriculum from Respectful Relationships, building awareness of similarities and differences between people, and also acceptance of that in respectful ways.

Breakfast Club Baskets continue to be popular. Our Health Ambassadors and their teacher mentors are managing the program with great enthusiasm and diligence. Goodies are available at 830, as we try to support students who may not have had any breakfast.

Assembly  will be on Fridays on odd weeks of this term during session 5.  Dates are Friday, Oct 21, Nov 4, 18, Dec 2 and 16. They are held in the hall starting at 2.40pm and we have a video link you can watch also.

THRIVE diaries for 2023 are now ready for printing. We have decided the a4 size work best for our school and have had a lot of positive feedback about them. They an integral part of our wellbeing classroom curriculum and are used daily. We incorporated Reading Journals into our diary together with our Wellbeing activities. You will see these coming up on our Parent Payment Booklist soon. We have been able to keep them at the same price for next year also--$15.50

Attendance We continue to look closely at our attendance data and support students who may have trouble with regular attendance. Weekly meetings are offered to support students and families.

We also have weekly meetings with the families of students on Behaviour Support Plans so we can work together to understand situations happening and how we can best support the student to make great choices.

We will recognise student attendance at the conclusion of every term.

Just a reminder that we are an accredited Sunsmart school. This means students are strongly encouraged to wear their broad brimmed school hat or stay in the shade. From September until May, no hat means no play. UV rays increase in intensity from September—these are what burn the especially sensitive skin of children—even on cloudy days.

Bella continues to be a super star, and was named as the school mascot by the Education Minister. She welcomes students at the gate, spends time in the yard at recess and lunch and also continues with her art classes. We have had Bella  stamps made and most students love to have one when they’ve had an interaction with Bella. She continues to be such a valuable asset for our school.

Smile Squad Dental Van we give an enormous thanks to our Smile Squad for all of the dental check ups and work they did with our students. 270 examinations, 140 sets of  x rays and quite a bit of dental work.
