Silver Screen Theme Concert

Our Music of the Silver Screen theme concert, inspired by ABC Classic FM’s Top 100 Movie Themes, was a fantastic event. To have students of different ages, from primary to Year 12, and different experience levels all together making wonderful music together is incredible.

Spring Arts Gala

The Spring Arts Gala was another resounding success. It is such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the great work of our students throughout the year, with Art, Technology, English (Year 7 Fairy Tales) and Music all on display. 

The concert showcased all ensembles, our Year 7 band class, some small groups and a selection of solo performances. It really is a joy to be able to show off all the great work that happens in the Music Academy throughout the year in one event. We are very proud of our students and what they have been able to achieve this year.

We would like to make a special mention of the Year 7 Classroom Band who played at the Spring Arts Gala last night. We are passionate about offering musical opportunities to students who might not otherwise get them, and we are pleased to have some genuine success stories out of this program this year. Some students have taken the opportunity with two hands and will continue on with their musical journeys into next year and beyond.

Symphonic Soul did a brilliant job playing at the Year 12 Farewell Assembly on October 14. With the whole school and some of the Year 12 parents in attendance it was another opportunity for the school community to see the amazing work that Mr Hovell and the Symphonic Soul band have been doing this year.

Victorian Education Excellence Awards

Oct 21 Jam Band played at the Victorian Education Excellence Awards at the Regent Theatre. It was a great opportunity for these students to gain some real world experience, and it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Macleod College to members of the Education Department and teachers from all over Victoria.

We would also like to take a moment to wish the very best for our VCE Music students as they prepare for their exams.
