P-2 SPORTS AND GRADE 5/6 HALLS GAP CAMP

It’s great to have these important events taking place this week, representing another step towards getting back to our normal routines. Whilst rain later in the week might force some programming changes for the 5/6 Halls Gap Camp, the experienced team at Norval Camp will adapt and engage the kids with a modified program.

There was no rain to interrupt the Prep-2 Sports today, the first to be held since 2019.  The kids certainly had a great time and were well supported by the SEDA students and our grade 5/6 sporting house reps. 

TRANSITION FROM KINDER TO PREP

Our Pre-Schooler Program has been running successfully in early term 4 for many years and provides an excellent opportunity for students to become familiar and comfortable with primary school.  

The Pre-Schooler Program for 2022 started last week and it was lovely to host an excited, although slightly nervous, cohort of kinder kids at both campuses.  The children were remarkably settled, and no doubt will feel more comfortable and confident in the school environment as the program continues. 

BUSHFIRE PREPAREDNESS

After the weather we’re currently experiencing, it’s a bit hard to get your head around bushfires, but the landscape will dry out soon enough and we need to be ready to keep everyone safe.  Our Scotsburn Campus is vulnerable to fires and each year we undertake works to reduce the fuel load around the campus and make sure the buildings are as safe as they can be in the event of a fire.

Having said that, we have every intention of hosting Scotsburn staff and students at the Buninyong Campus on days where the fire risk is high.  

We are mandated for the Scotsburn Campus to close on days rated as catastrophic, but don’t intend to have anyone on site when the fire rating is Extreme or Severe.  

We will do our best to give Scotsburn families plenty of notice on occasions when the decision is taken to host staff and students at the Buninyong Campus. 

Start Dates for 2023

We know that some of you will already be planning summer holidays and will be keen to know school start dates for 2023. 

* Teachers are officially back at work on Friday, January 27

* All students start back on Tuesday, January 31

·         Term 1 ends Thursday, April 6

·         Term 2 starts Monday April 24
