Japanese

This week in Japanese:

YR3&4 have started their topic 'Sustainability' with a story told by Mottainai Grandma. Mottainai is a Japanese adjective that describes how it is unfortunate to be wasteful. The students are learning what this phrase means but they will also be learning what small actions we can take as global citizens.

Foundation students have learned some Kanji characters relating to nature including (mountain/hill), 川(river) and 木(tree). They were engaged with analyzing shapes of pictures and matching them with the Kanji. They then cleverly created a landscape embedding those characters into the scene. Foundation students will enjoy searching for stones with those Kanji (written beautifully by some of their YR5&6 buddies) in the Fairy Garden!
