Grade 5/6 Students

Celebrating our fantastic Fives and sensational Sixes!

5/6A - Miss Lee

56A has had a vibrant start to the term. The students wrote factual recounts that they then turned into creative and dynamic recollections of activities from their holidays. In reading, Literacy Circles has commence and in maths, the students have engaged well with our topic of probability. A particularly popular investigation has been the Winning Post. Students were required to place their game piece on a number that they thought would be most likely rolled with two dice. The images show an interesting gameboard and much discussion was had about why the gameboard was set up in the manner that it was. The outcomes of the game resulted in even more discussion. If you would like to have a go (and a laugh) with your child, use these images to set up your gameboard and have a go at home.  We played ours on a grided whiteboard, but it will work just as well on graph paper.

5/6B - Mr Sankovic

The 5/6B students looked at angles and identified, measured and drew obtuse, acute, reflex and every other angle in between! This culminated in the students creating a mini golf course. They then showed how you would get a hole in one, with a shot and the angles were measured when the ball bounced off various obstacles. Students also were required to include specific angles, demonstrating their ability to measure and draw any given angle. Creativity shone through in this task!

Dice Race

In grade 5/6C over the last few weeks have been looking into probability and chance. Here is Dean and Lewes working together to see if a game is fair for all numbers when rolled. Great work boys!

Creative Snapshot Writing

Every Wednesday in 5/6C, students choose between many different types of creative writing pieces with a different prompt every week. Here is Amelia’s description of the picture prompt this week using some very descriptive language. Great job Amelia!

 5/6D - Mr Jared
