NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Term 4. I hope that you all had a fabulous break.  Hopefully this term, the weather will turn a bit warmer and daylight savings is back!  As we have entered our sun smart period, can I remind all families of the importance of children wearing their hat and school sunglasses during lunch and recess.  Our new students received their sunglasses this week.  I would also remind families that children should only be wearing their runners to school on days that they have sport.

You can purchase replacement sunglasses (if they are scratched or broken) from the school office for $15.  We also sell Legionnaire hats for $11.  You can send money in via your child, or come in to pay.  You can also pay by credit card over the phone.

Farewell to Lauretta

After struggling with some health issues, Lauretta (our school psychologist) has decided to leave Holy Name.  We wish to thank Lauretta for her time and support of the students at our school. While this means for the rest of the term we will not have a school psychologist, we are putting things in place to rectify the situation for next year.

Class Structures for 2023

Thank you to those families that attended our information evening this week.  I hope that you all now have some clarity around how this new class structure will work at Holy Name. I know that some of you are still reserving your judgement until you see it in actual operation and that too is ok.  Going forward, the class structure at Holy Name will be as follows:

Year 1/2 AYear 1/2 BYear 1/2C
Year 3/4 AYear 3/4 BYear 3/4C

Our Year 5 and 6 students are getting very excited about their up and coming production on Wednesday 26th October.   Adults and children requiring a seat will need to purchase a ticket. Tickets are available for purchase from the office from Monday 10th October at a cost of $5 each. You can choose to attend the matinee session (12:30pm) or the late afternoon session (5:30pm).

Working Bee

As the weather begins to fine up and the sun appears, we will be having a working bee to take care of some of the jobs around the school grounds.  Our working bee will take place this Sunday 9th October from 8:00am to 12:00pm. There will be a number of gardening activities around the school and some general maintenance. The more hands on deck, the easier it will all be.

School Closure Day Change

In our newsletter, you would have noticed that we have two school closure days scheduled for Term 4. The first of these is on Monday 31st October (Cup Eve). The second one which was scheduled for 1st December has been changed to Monday 19th December. After consultation with the staff and seeking permission from MACS, this second date has been moved to late December. The 19th of December was going to technically be the last day of the year for children in Years Prep-5.  Instead, Friday 16th December will now be the last day of the year for all year levels.  This means that all children will finish at 1:00pm. The day will end with a guard of honour for the Year 6 students at 12:30 and at 1:00pm, the rest of the children will be dismissed after returning to their classrooms to collect their bags. The 1st of December therefore, is a normal school day.

Story Time is Back!

Do you have a preschool aged child that enjoys listening to stories?  Why not bring them to story time? Holy Name will once again be running our story time sessions. This is open to all preschoolers.  The sessions will be held in the Library area from 2.30 to 3.15pm.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly will be in the Hall every Monday at 2:30pm.  All parents are welcome.
