Book Fair

Students were delighted to purchase some books and items from the Book Fair.

Cultural Celebrations

In G4, we have been learning about cultural celebrations around the world. Last week we focused on Halloween which was celebrated on October 31. It is a time when people dress up in costumes, go trick-or-treating and carve jack-o’-lanterns from hollowed out pumpkins. G4 also learnt about the history of the festival and how it is very different to the way people celebrate it now.

On Monday 32 October (on Halloween), the students in G4 went on a maths adventure around the school. The students had to answer maths riddles and do maths challenges in order to get a trick or treat. One of the maths questions was, " 10 skeletons and 8 ghosts arrive at a party, how many total people are at the party? ", do you know the answer?

Design Technologies

In Design Technologies, R2 learnt how they can be sustainable by re-using different materials to create new designs. Students developed their oral language skills by explaining what they had made and why and communicated the materials they would need. Combined with Literacy, the end product was a unique letter mask!

In Digital Technologies, students explored Bee-Bots to develop their understanding of digital objects. Students had fun following verbal commands and making their own commands to see their Bee-Bot move.

Reading, Writing and Art

This term, Reception and Year 1 students have been engaging in learning involving the book “Wombat Stew” by Marcia K. Vaughan. R4 students have enjoyed listening for the rhyme and repetition in the story, writing about their favourite part and role playing the story with the support of our provocation table. In Art, students created collages of some characters, including the wombat and emu. They also made their own version of the stew!
