Boarding House News

Welcome back Everyone!

This week saw nearly all our boarders return and the sense of excitement they exhibited to be back at St Philip's was truly welcoming. Some came by boat, bus, car and airplane to be here and some of the lucky ones were picked up by College staff (although they did have to put up with Paul and his dad jokes and terrible singing).

Our wonderful Boarding Assistant Jen Inglis who makes all the travel arrangements, should be congratulated for a job well done in the complex coordination for students to get to the College from some of the most remote places in Australia.

Jen went on one of the trips to Alparra and enjoyed all the sites, including the abundance of wildflowers in that area.

Just a reminder to all parents and guardians that Jen has just started the planning for the return home. So, it is recommended that you contact her as soon as possible if you have any changes.

Principal, Roger Herbert even went out on the Sunday before the commencement of Term 4 to Ti Tree, Wilora, Six Mile and Ti Tree Station to assist in the collection of the boarders. St Philip's College must be one of the few educational institutions in Australia that has a principal who goes out and ensures boarders are ready to commence their schooling on time.

This term is a short term of only 8 weeks, (now 7 when you receive this newsletter). I have already had a meeting with the boarders and discussed their end of term "Christmas Party". It has been decided that it will be a bit different to previous years and boarders will be allowed to invite guests to see them in their finery and to receive their Boarding Awards for 2021. So please be on the lookout for your invitation to the "SPC Boarding Spectacular 2021".

Yours in Boarding,

Ms Tammy Hawkins

Acting Director of Boarding
