Performing Arts - Term 4 Highlights

Welcome back to school! This term all communities have been learning about Music! 

 

Prep 

The Argus Community have started to explore how keep a steady beat with different percussion instruments such as rhythm sticks, maracas, drums and jingle bells. Students have responded to the music elements: pitch, dynamics and tempo to suit a sound story. They have also enjoyed using creative movement to match the beat of the music. 

 

Year 1/2

The Achilles and Xenica Community have been developing an understanding between beat and rhythm through listening, body percussion, creative movement and playing different melodic and percussion instruments. Students have responded to music by using the instruments to match the tempo, dynamics and pitch. 

 

Year 3/4

The Ulysses Community have started to arrange known rhythm patterns (taa, ti-ti, zaa) to compose a rhythm chart and use percussion instruments to accompany their music piece. Students have demonstrated an understanding of mood by listening to different genres of music and creating a musical emoji to match the emotion. Students will finish the term by experimenting with beat and rhythm using technology-based apps such as GarageBand and Chrome Music Lab.

 

Year 5/6 

The Icarus Community have been working on composing word phrases to match different rhythm patterns. They chose a topic such as food, sports or friendship to create their lyrics. Students added melodic and percussion instruments to accompany their music piece and performed to the class. Students have been developing their ability to analyse music and highlight what atmosphere it creates. They will finish the term with composing music using technology-based apps such as GarageBand and Chrome Music Lab.

 

Events

Performing Arts Incursion 2022

Due to the covid restrictions, the Performing Arts Incursion will be postponed to March 8th, 2022. Students will be viewing Beauty and the Beast presented by Alphashows. 

If you have already given consent and paid online or brought payment to school for the previous Performing Arts Incursion, you do not need to do this again for this one. More information will be provided closer to the date. Thank you for your understanding and support.
