Year 6 Encounter at Boshack Outback, September 2021.

From the Deputy Head of Primary, Fiona Shand

The end of term has been full of celebration in the Primary School.

This week students enjoyed sharing their learning with parents during the Inquiry Journeys. It was wonderful hearing the students share their passions and interests and talking about their progress across all the different learning areas.

Our Pre-Primary students had a lovely time at Lansdale Farm Sustainability Education Centre last week. Pre-Primary students have been investigating the central idea that people have different roles in the production of food. Students have been exploring where common foods such as milk, bread, fruit and vegetables come from.

To gain a greater understanding, students met with the farmers and interacted with the animals including chickens, cows, sheep and goats. The students wandered through the gardens and orchards to look for different fruits and vegetables growing. For many, the highlight of the day was feeding the chickens, collecting the eggs and a tractor ride around the farm.

The Inter-School Athletics Team enjoyed a day of competition at All Saints College on Monday with many personal best achievements and strong school spirit.

Our Year 3s and 6s have enjoyed their Encounters this week. The Year 3s showed great teamwork, risk-taking and a huge amount of zest as they completed team challenges and went flying through the air on the flying fox.

Our Year 6s have enjoyed being in nature on their camp to Boshack. Please enjoy the photos that capture the special moments.

Today we finished the term with a wonderful Assembly led by our Year 1 classes and enjoyed hearing our choir perform.

A new tradition at school has been the House Games held on the last day of term. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together across the whole Primary School and enjoy being active and mixing with students from across the year levels.

It has certainly been a busy term and we would like to wish all our families a safe, happy, and relaxing holiday!
